Fermin Tijerina

December 28, 1964 — March 24, 2022

Fermin Tijerina, 57, of Austin Texas, transitioned to his heavenly home on March 24, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. He fought the good fight and was surrounded by his loving family in his home.

Fermin was born and raised in Austin, Texas to Vicente and Amelia (Guzman) Tijerina on December 28, 1964. He graduated from Johnston Highschool in Austin, Texas. Fermin married the love of his life, Barbara Patlan on July 1, 2001, in Austin, Texas after a whirlwind courtship of 2 months. The love they shared, and the strength of their marriage was an amazing love story that could only have happened through their relationship with God.

Fermin was a God-fearing man; he loved the Lord. He never knew a stranger, to him everyone was family, he helped many people, and gave whatever he could to those in need. He shared his faith in Christ with so many and impacted the lives of countless others. He was loving, caring and compassionate. The simplest things in life brought Fermin great joy. He loved sitting on the porch, and mowing the yard, spending time with his dogs while watching the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys play. Fishing and playing golf with his brothers, son and nephews always meant he was going to have a day full of fun and laughter.

Fermin is survived by his wife of 21 years, Barbara; children: Erica Tijerina and husband, Jonny Hernandez; Savannah Castilleja; Judy Marie Villapando and husband, Paul Michael Villapando; Kristina Duhon and Fermin Tijerina Jr. and wife, Tearza Williams;  siblings: Johnny Tijerina, Rachel Juarez, Richard Tijerina, Paula Crist, Cynthia Caballero, and Vincent Tijerina; grandchildren: Eliza Torres, Eve Flores, Alliyah Villapando, Erik Flores, and Paul Michael Villapando Jr. and countless nieces and nephews.

Fermin is preceded in death by his loving parents, Vicente and Amelia Tijerina; brothers: Edward Tijerina and Felix Tijerina;  sisters: Crecilda Tijerina and Carmen Tijerina.

The Tijerina family wish to extend our sincere thanks to True Heart Hospice and all those who prayed for the family during this journey.
