Emmet Ray Alexander, age 95, of Cedar Creek, Texas, passed away on May 27, 2021 in Austin, Texas.
Emmet Ray was born in San Antonio, Texas to John Riley and Mary Jo Alexander on December 10, 1925. He went to school at Cedar Creek and Bastrop. Emmet Ray married Glyn Rose Kelly on October 22, 1948 in Lockhart, Texas. He graduated from Bastrop High School. He worked as a rancher/heavy equipment operator for seventy-one years. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army and was awarded Honorable discharge from the Army. He was involved in VFW Roping Club of Rockne/Cedar Creek, Cedar Creek Cemetery Officer/Active Member. He received awards for his rodeo skills.
Emmet Ray enjoyed ranching, fishing, hunting with coon hounds, visiting with family and friends, and was usually around a dessert table.…
Emmet Ray is survived by: Donna Rae Alexander-Grabs (Harold), Jill Renee Alexander-Diaz (Peter): Sister-In-Law Jewel Kelly-Bennight and Nancy Nixon-Kelly, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Emmet Ray is preceded in death by His parents, John Riley and Mary Jo Alexander, his wife, Glyn Rose, brother and sister-in-law, John Riley Alexander, Jr. and wife Willie Bell Alexander, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Laverne Kelly Townsend, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Howard and Eva Kelly Meehan, brother-in-law L. M. Bennight, brother-in-law Carl Kelly, and nephews James Taylor Meehan and Tommy Ray Townsend.
Visitation will be will be 5-7 PM, Monday, June 7 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 8 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Upper Cedar Creek Cemetery at Cedar Creek.
Memorials may be given to Cedar Creek Cemetery Association.
