EC Mowdy born in Austin Tx, in 1939. He was raised in Cameron, Texas on the family’s homestead. He was conditioned to hard work from a very young age as the family were farmers. He carried this work ethic out for the rest of his life. It was while growing up with his Grandparents that he earned the name Sunny. He lived and worked on the farm until he hit the age of 17 when he decided to enlist into the United States Navy. He earned his GED and earned the title Navy Corpsman. He served his term on the U.S.S. Talladega for the next four years sailing across the world and working in Navy hospitals. After being honorably discharged it was time for him to move onto new things in this life. During the rest of his life he accomplished milestones and had more experiences than one can count. He was a construction worker, truck driver, sheet rocker, unloaded box cars, construction supervisor, restaurant owner, video store owner, investor, traveler, and entrepreneur. Most of all he was a mentor, friend, advisor, counselor, husband, father, hero, storyteller, and Dad. He lived a most colorful life and had such a great love for the earth and all of its creatures. He is not gone but instead in a different form. He is with us all throughout our journeys called life.
He lived his life with passion and he loved working in the earth, appreciating the fruits of his labor, watching his birds (especially his wood peckers, painted buntings, and humming birds), sitting at the tank watching the wildlife as time passed by.
He is survived by his wife Cary; sons Art, Al, and Jeremiah; daughter Rachel, and countless grandchildren.
