Eileen Sandra Fugate

Eileen Sandra Fugate, 73, of Cedar Creek, passed away on August 3, 2024.  Eileen was born in Darby, PA to James and Alice Cheezum on April 5, 1951.  Eileen married Dwight Fugate on February 28, 1987.

Eileen’s career encompassed being an international sales leader for a major publishing company.  She then went back to school to receive her MBA from St. Edwards and master’s in education from Sam Houston State.  She also received her Administration degree from Lamar College. She taught business classes at the prison in Austin for seven (7) years. She then moved on to Del Valley ISD (DAEP) and taught for an additional five (5) years. Followed by an additional two (2) years of substitute teaching.  She was also nominated Teacher of Year for school Year 2019-2020.

Eileen’s love for Jesus and her church family opened many doors for her.  She participated in organizations such as the Bastrop County Conservative (PAC), Fill My Cup, Bastrop County Education Advocacy, Mom’s for America, Mom’s for Liberty, she also legislated at the Capital, and organized the Pole Watchers of Bastrop County.

Eileen’s favorite pastimes were politics, traveling, and family!

Eileen was preceded in death by her Parents, Alice Cheezum, James and Henrietta Cheezum, Brothers - Michael and Ronnie, Son Ron Fugate and Brother-In-Law Michael Moore.

She is survived by:

Siblings: David and Kim Cheezum, Kevin and Virginia Cheezum, Diane Moore, Holly and Randy Barber.

Children: Mark Carle, Heather and James Dadey, Amber and Peter Howdeshell,

Rick and Jan Fugate, Duane and Lea Ann Fugate, Michelle & Steve Kobrin.

11 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.

The celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Fellowship 133 Flahive Rd. Bastrop, TX  78602
