Doris Marie Bridges

Our beloved mother, Doris Marie Singer Bridges went home to Jesus on October 1, 2023 , at age of 86. Doris (or as her grandchildren call her – Nini) was born on October 22, 1936, in East Bernard, Texas to Rev. Aaron O’Neal (A.O.) Singer and Lottie Vivian Singer.

Doris met her soul mate, Henry Glenn Bridges in Texas City, Texas at Doris’ church where her father was the Pastor. Henry and Doris married on December 21, 1956, and went on to adopt 2 daughters, Kimberley Bridges Shelton, and Dana Lynn Bridges Sharp. Henry and Doris also fostered many children during their marriage. Among those, Corina Elizabeth Lozano who has remained a part of our family since that time.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Doris loved southern gospel concerts, playing the piano, singing in the church quartet and being with her friends and shopping. Doris and Henry were faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas.

Doris joins her father, Rev. Aaron O’Neal Singer and mother, Lottie Vivian Truitt Singer and her beloved husband, Henry Glenn Bridges in Heaven.

Doris is survived by her children, Kimberley Bridges Shelton and Roger Shelton of Bastrop, Texas; Dana Bridges Sharp and David Turbeville of Houston, Texas; Grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Shelton and James Ross of Austin, Texas, and Kyle Aaron Shelton of Austin, Texas; Kristine and Michael Perez of Richmond, Texas; Brien Turbeville of San Antonio, Texas; James Trey Turbeville of Baytown, Texas; Great-Grandchildren: Connor Aaron; Benjamin, Elena and Emelia Perez; Bailey and Blessing Turbeville.

Our family would like to express their gratitude to all of Doris’ caretakers in Generations Memory Care at Fountainwood at Lake Houston in Humble, Texas.

Visitation and Service will be held at Providence Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas on October 14, 2023. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m., and Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Private graveside service will be held immediately following service at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop, Texas for the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Doris Marie Bridges.
