Davis Lee Hawkins, 68, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 26th, 2019. He had been struggling with many health issues the last few years. He had moved back to Bastrop to be close to family so we could help care for him. Davis was born on June 18, 1951 to James Ray and Camilla Hawkins in Corpus Christi, Tx. He graduated from Madison High School, Houston, Tx, in 1968, in the top 10 percent of his class. He was also involved in the Junior Achievement which helped prepare him for his banking career. Davis went to a Junior College for a couple of semesters in Houston. After that he started working for First National Bank in Houston, working in the basement on the giant computers, finding his niche. This started his career in banking, by obtaining a job with Nations Bank and by the age of 30 became vice president at the Bellaire Branch. Later Davis started working for Bank of America and was with them for almost 30 years. While employed with Bank of America he was in Charlotte, North Carolina and Velejo, California. He was survived by two brothers, James R. Hawkins Jr. and wife, Cheree and Don P. Hawkins; one sister Angel Blackley and husband, Bill; three nephews: Ty Ray Hawkins, Jason Hawkins, Sebastian Blackley and one niece, Shanna Dorman and life partner Glenn Bynum and sweet canine companion Olivia Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Hawkins and mother, Camilla Estelle Hawkins. A Celebration of Life Service will be at the Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Hwy 71 East, Bastrop, Texas on Saturday October 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
