Daniel Roland Hamel

Daniel Roland Hamel, 37, of Austin, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 14th, 2024 in Austin, Texas.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 19th, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at 287 FM 20 in Bastrop, Texas.

Daniel was born in Mountain Home, Idaho to Art Hamel and Karen Eernisse on June 15th, 1986. He graduated Bastrop High School in 2004. Daniel excelled into a Commander position in NJROTC. He marrried Brooke Templeton on June 7th, 2015. Before he passed, he was actively pursuing his bachelors degree in business at Devry University.

He overcame a lot of health obstacles in his life after being diagnosed with Alpha-1 Anti Trypsin Deficiency-Associated Liver Disease before the age of one. The diagnosis caused him to undergo two liver transplants as a young boy and a third one at the age of 23. Although he spent a lot of his life in pain, he did not let that steal his smile or his love of Jesus.

All who knew him acknowledged his gentleness, compassion, and love for every person he came in contact with, even on the days he hurt.

Daniel was one of the oldest living recipients of 3 liver transplants in the world. He was a walking talking miracle from the day he was born. Daniel is preceded in death by his grandfather, Daniel O’Donoghue and grandmother Tommie O’Donoghue.

Daniel is survived by his children Jason and Isaac Hamel. His mother, Karen Eernisse, and his father and step mother, Art and Amy Hamel. And his sisters Katy Bland, Amanda Marek and Tommie Sue Stack. And on his father’s side, Nikki Wilson, Rhianna Mann, Gavin Hamel and Sophie Hamel.
