Honoring The Journey and Legacy of Christopher Lyndell Haywood

Christopher Lyndell Haywood was born on September 24, 1981, in Austin, TX, to Larry and Wanda “Katie” Haywood. He was the first of two kids. Chris accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Zion Chapel Baptist Church of Bastrop, TX. As a child, Chris developed a love for sports when he started playing little league baseball. Chris attended Bastrop high school and continued playing sports. Chris and his mother shared an unbreakable bond. He often helped her around the kitchen, which led him to having a passion for cooking. He loved watching cooking shows and trying new recipes. He loved sitting outside with his father talking about life.

The love of Chris’ life was his four children, Khyilia, Samira, Chrishaun and Eternity. He supported his children in all school events including coaching his son’s and daughter’s little league baseball and softball teams. With unwavering dedication, he ensured his children could always rely on his presence, fostering a sense of security and support that empowered them to thrive in life.

Chris found enjoyment spending time with family and friends. Chris cherished the time he spent with his brother Maurice, and as he grew older, he took great pride in mentoring and guiding him, embracing the rewards and responsibilities that came with being a big brother. Chris was an incredibly supportive uncle to Jayden and Bryden, and he felt deeply fulfilled by the opportunity to play a positive role in their lives.

Chris was a very adventurous man; he loved the outdoors and camping. He went on several fishing trips with close friends at the beach. He was a true Texas Longhorn fan, he really enjoyed going to the UT games. He enjoyed a good party and attended many loved one’s gatherings. We could always count on his presence.

Chris was a very warm-hearted man. He had a very kind caring spirited that graced every person he encountered with love.

On February 10, 2025, Chris received his wings. He precedes in death by his grandparents, Ruben Haywood, Winnie Haywood, and Clyde Haywood.
