Charles E. Jenkins

Charles E. Jenkins, 83, of Bastrop, passed away on February 24, 2022.

Charles was born in Sparks, Kansas to Henry William Henry Jenkins and Gladys Fay Phomey on July 1, 1938.  He attended school at Highland High School. He graduated from Highland Junior College.

He married Virginia G. Gallardo on November 17, 1983 in Austin, Texas.

Charles worked as a police officer for Robert Mueller Airport in Austin, Texas, Llano Police Department in Llano, Texas and Ingleside Police Department in Ingleside, Texas for 22 years.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the U.S. Army for 22 years and was awarded several medals during his time of service.

He enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with his family.

Charles is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Veronica Jenkins; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Charles is preceded in death by daughter, Sarah Jenkins; four siblings and his parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Hwy 71 East, Bastrop, Texas 78602.

Burial with full military honors will be held at 9:00 a.m. on March 9, 2022 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas
