Cassandra Yvette Jones, of Bastrop passed away on July 16, 2023. On April 23, 1963, Cassandra, commonly referred to as Sandy, was born to Steve and Lucy Marie Blakeley in Teague, Texas. Sandy's early years were spent moving about California as the daughter of a military family. Prior to relocating to Bastrop in 1971, Sandy spent her early years in San Pedro, California, and Kingsville, Texas, where she started high school. Sandy had a fulfilling academic career. She was a flag girl and a flutist in the school band in addition to being academically focused. Following in the footsteps of her relatives' tradition, Sandy and her siblings were raised to serve God through both worship and service. Any project Sandy worked on received her enthusiastic participation. Sandy had a deep passion for helping those in need, especially children. She was fulfilled by distributing tiny personal care packs to those in need, and ministered to people of the community by being conscious of their needs. Sandy served as an usher for a number of years under the guidance of Mrs. Ruby Johnson, whom she adored deeply. Sandy had a passion for service. Sandy's desire to serve others, coupled with her professional aspirations, led her to work in the health care sector where she cared for patients during their rehabilitation period. The greatest accomplishment of Sandy’s life was being a mother to her three children, Bronson Dwayne, Dustin Ellis, and Tristan Marie, who have been the joys of her life. Sandy carried on her family's tradition of serving the Lord in worship with her kids. She had close relationships with each of her children and grandchildren, which brought great joy into her life. She took every opportunity to catch up with her kids. She enjoyed savory food (chicken liver and dressing), walking, drawing, gardening, writing, reading, going to thrift shops, and yard sales. She cherished hanging out with Theresa and Deloris. When she met Willie Charles, her life was complete. She appreciated his presence, his cooking, country driving, and the fact that he completed her concept of a family. Sandy is survived by her husband Willie Charles Jones, son Bronson Haywood (Gabriella) of Kyle, son Dustin Haywood (Natalia) of Cedar Creek, daughter Tristan Blakeley (Montana) of Cedar Creek, daughter Jena Jones of Austin, sister Reverend Stephenie Heard of Bastrop, brother Reverend Damon Blakeley (Regina) of Dallas, brother William Blakeley of Frisco, mother Lucy Blakeley of Bastrop, and ten grandchildren.
