Carolyn Clark Oatman

Carolyn Clark Oatman Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on October 9, 1932, Carolyn Clark Oatman died at home in Bastrop, Texas, on November 12, 2017. Carolyn was the older of two children born to Warren and Mabel Mills Clark. Carolyn attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, where she met the love of her life, Wayland Wilson Oatman. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage during which they loved and cared for each other and the four children they were blessed with: Steve, David, Reed and Mary Kay. In 1958, after living in Wichita Falls and Dallas, Carolyn and Wayland moved to Austin and participated in the family oil business.  Active in the community, they supported the Helping Hand Home for Children of Austin, University Christian Church of Austin, Texas Christian University and Cattlemen for Cancer Research. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Wayland, and her son, Reed. She is survived by her children Steve and Debby Oatman of Austin, David Oatman of Sugar Land, Pat and Gayla Oatman English of Ft. Worth, and Chris and Mary Kay Oatman Thomas of Dallas. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Collin, Taylor, Andrew, Clark, Mary, Ryan, Trent, Carolyn, Reed, their spouses and seven great-children: Stella, Ty, Caleb, Max, Emma, Mary Neil and Connor. Carolyn's extended family includes brother Warren Malcolm Clark, and wife Sharon, of Mammoth Lakes, California, and sister Rita Reed George, of Georgetown, Texas. The family would like to thank Jill Green, Ernie Chavarria, Oswaldo Toj and the staffs of Visiting Angels and Hospice Austin for their support and care. Funeral services will be held at University Christian Church, 2007 University Ave., Austin, TX 78705, Saturday the 18th of November at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at 1:00pm at Fairview Cemetery, 1409 Hwy 95, Bastrop, TX 78602.
