Carol Mcafee

December 6, 1940 — July 12, 2022

Carol Frances McAfee went home to be with our Lord Jesus on July 12, 2022 at the age of 81.
Carol was born in Los Angeles, California on December 6, 1940. She and her sister, Robin Wax, were adopted at a very young age and raised by Joseph H. Wax and Gertrude M. Wax.  She grew up in Big Sur, California where she attended school and graduated from Monterey Union High School. After school she married and moved to Bastrop, Texas in 1964 with her family. Carol worked with MHMR for the State of Texas for many years where she enjoyed teaching the clients woodworking and life skills. They built beautiful porch swings and untouchable relationships. When she retired, she continued to care for and help people in need for many more years.
Carol was an amazing, spirited woman with many talents and a heart bigger than Texas. It was full of love for her family, everyone she considered family (pretty much everyone she met), Jesus, animals, music and the river.  She was a wonderful mother to not only her children but also those she “adopted”.   Whether you asked for her opinion or not, you were going to get it. She wasn’t afraid of anything and could make a meal out of nothing. She loved holidays and time spent with family. She wasn’t an angel by any means but her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was undeniable.
She leaves an unfillable void in the lives of her family and friends who could always go to her for a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen, a hand to hold, a hug to be wrapped in and sometimes a “talking to”.

Carol is survived by her husband of 30 years Gayland McAfee; sister, Robin Wax of Oregon; son, David W. Kropp (Renee Benson); daughters: C. Marie Kropp; Laurie A. Schneider (James Schneider) all of Bastrop, Texas. Also, her grandchildren: Stephanie M. Davis, Steven D. Davis, Nicholas B. Murnan, Taylor M. Schneider, J. Luke Schneider, Daniel R. Miranda and great-grandchildren Sasha and Alexandro (Alex) Villasenor; Nathan and Michael Miranda. As well as her niece Tami Perrault of Bastrop; nephew Paul Erie of California and great nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service only on Friday, July 15th at 10:00 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Bastrop, Texas.

The family wants to thank Silverado Hospice and Cypress Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Anyone who knew Carol and wishes to attend is welcome. Carol loved everyone
