Bobbie Neal Atkinson

Bobbie (Bob) N. Atkinson, 87, of Bastrop, TX, passed away at home in Bastrop on January 16, 2022.

Mr. Atkinson was born in Austin, TX to Launa Adell Follis and William Nealy Atkinson on June 8, 1934. He attended public schools in Austin, TX, graduated from Austin High School with the Class of ’52, and from St. Edwards University after retirement in the late 1990’s.

Mr. Atkinson married Nancy Heaton Sharp on May 14, 1988 in Elgin, TX.

For many years he worked in the early days of data processing for the State of Texas. He retired from LCRA as Manager of Information Systems.

He was a long time member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church of Elgin, TX where he taught adult Sunday school, was a member of the sanctuary choir and enjoyed singing bass in men’s and mixed ensembles.

He was an avid golfer for many decades, and he was a 32 degree Mason.

Mr. Atkinson is survived by his wife, Nancy Heaton Atkinson; daughter, Teri Linn Atkinson and son, William David Atkinson; granddaughters: Shelby Catherine Atkinson and Payton Lee Atkinson; stepson, Michael Bryan Sharp and wife, Monica Muniz Sharp.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his children’s mother Carolyn Johnson.

Private Funeral services will be held at Bastrop Providence Funeral home with burial will follow at Miller Creek Cemetery in Blanco County.

The Atkinson family wishes to express gratitude to all of Mr. Atkinson’s many doctors, to his caring support team at Beacon Hospice, and to his former primary physician Dr. Kenneth Sherman and nurse practitioner Theresia Allen.

He was a kind and loving man beloved by many.
