Beverly Ann Hopkins Bench, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend passed away on July 2, 2024.
Beverly was born on March 20, 1941 to John Henry and Velma Delphine Hopkins and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of seven children and the only surviving triplet.
Beverly loved music from an early age. She competed in multiple beauty pageants as a baby, and throughout her childhood and teenage years. Beverly twirled the baton in high school and was crowned Choir Queen in 1959.
Beverly married the love of her life, Ted Bench on September 15, 1963, after meeting on a blind date. They were married in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and lived there until 1975, when they moved to Houston, Texas. Though she longed for Oklahoma, she made a home for her family and raised her children in Texas. Beverly and Ted were honored to renew their vows when they celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2013.
Beverly’s smile and sparkling eyes lit up every room she entered. She had many friends and enjoyed playing bingo, attending church, singing gospel hymns, and always loved to wear her pretty scarves.
Beverly was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed working part-time jobs occasionally.
Beverly is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Robin Bench Parker and her son-in-law, Richard Parker of Smithville, Texas and many family and friends; plus generations of nieces and nephews.
Beverly joins in heaven her husband, Ted Bench; her son, Steve Bench; her youngest son, Johnny Bench; as well as her father, mother, and seven siblings.
Family and friends will be received at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home on Sunday, July 21, 2024 beginning at 2:00p.m. with a Prayer Service beginning at 2:30p.m. A gathering celebrating Beverly's life will be held at 3:00p.m at the home of Robin Bench, 151 Alum Creek Rd, Smithville, Texas, 78957.
