Barbara Jean Bacon Pizel, 89 of Bastrop, TX passed away on her birthday July 7, 2022 at her home in Bastrop, TX.
Barbara was born in San Antonio, TX to Roy and Eugenia Bacon on July 7, 1933.
She married the love of her life Harold Pizel on April 17, 1953 while he was assigned to Randolph Air Force Base, TX. They had three wonderful daughters Molly, Kathy, and Sheri. Once Harold separated from the Air Force, the family moved a lot due to Harold being in the road construction business. They lived in Texas, Kansas, and Colorado. Every time they moved, Barbara was able to adapt to her new community and make their house a home. She loved the opportunity to see and live in new places.
Barbara was an amazing and talented person. She loved to teach people new skills. As a teller in a bank, she would help people balance their bank accounts. When she was a teacher’s aide at South Elementary in Castle Rock, CO and Mountain Valley Middle in Sattler, TX, she would assist the students in reading, writing and arithmetic. Her last job before she retired was the Church Secretary for St Andrew Lutheran Church at Canyon Lake, TX—where she worked for over 15 years. She was also actively involved with the Comal County Extension Homemakers for many years, and also spent time as a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher.
Her main love was to spend time with her family and friends. She was an avid gardener and very talented seamstress and loved to crochet. She made her daughters’ wedding dresses. She was a terrific cook and loved to cook for her family and friends. She loved playing cards and belonged to a couple of Bunco Groups.
Barbara is survived by her three daughters Molly (Dennis) Koepp of New Braunfels, TX, Kathy (Greg) Mosher of McQueeny, TX, and Sheri (Mike) Kinslow of Bastrop, TX. Her brother Ray Bacon of Canyon Lake, TX, and sister Janet Needham of Oklahoma City, OK. Her 8 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Pizel. Her parents Roy and Eugenia Bacon. Her granddaughter Angel Mosher.
Memorial services will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Canyon Lake, TX on Saturday July 16, 2022 at 3:00 pm. Burial will be at a later date in Kanorado, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to one’s choice. The family of Barbara Pizel wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Beacon Hospice Group—her hospice nurses Lucky and Amy, Chaplin Jennifer, and Pastor Robert. Also, a special thank you to Father Vasileios Flegas of Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.
