Alice Irene Sinclair

Alice Irene Knox Sinclair was born on the 29th of July in 1928 to Lulu Bertha Bray Knox and Hubert Jeried Knox in Lehman, Texas of Cochran County.  She was the sixth and last surviving child and will now be joining her sister Anna and brothers James, Walter, Jack and Laurence in the next stage of life.

She graduated as a registered nurse in 1948 and kept up with all those that she graduated with for many, many years.  She enlisted in the Army and was in the Army Nurse Corps until she reached the rank of Major.  She married Cleddie Ernest Sinclair who she met on assignment in Asmara, Eritrea.  (He was enlisted, she was an officer….. such a rebel)  She had two children, Russell Sinclair who is no longer with us and Kirk Sinclair who lives in Paige, Texas with his husband Jonny Finley.  She also had two grandchildren George Sinclair who lives in Snyder, Texas and Roger Sinclair who is no longer with us.

She retired from the military and worked as a civilian nurse at Reese Air Force Base for the rest of her career.  She actually retired from nursing the year her son Kirk graduated from nursing school.  After retirement she was very involved with her family, her friends from nursing school and the myriad of new friends she met along the way.

She lived in several U.S. states, Germany and Eritrea in her life and had countless stories about each place.  She moved from the Panhandle in Texas with her brother James to be closer to her son and son-in-law in 2005 where she remained until she finally succumbed to the most challenging of maladies, time.

Her remains will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas on October 11th at 11:30am.  We will have a celebration of life on October 12th at 1pm at the home of her son, Kirk.
