Alice Joy Burnham "Mamaw"

On Saturday February 10, 2018 Alice Joy Burnham, age 76, was called to Heaven after her courageous battle with cancer. Alice was at home and passed peacefully with her family at her side. She was born August 27, 1941 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Richard William Staudt and Josephine Catherine Lehman Staudt.

Alice is preceded in death by her grandmother Rosa Pale; her Parents; and her brothers Andrew and Franklin Staudt.

Alice is survived by her beloved husband of almost 57 years George Silas Burnham; her children Patricia Dudley, Patrick Burnham, Diana Fillman and husband Roger, Robert Burnham and wife Patricia; grandchildren Crystal Morales and husband James, Jennifer King and husband Dustin, Stephen Fillman, Justin Fillman and wife Raylynne, and John Burnham; great-grandchildren Dylan, Sabrina, and Catherine Morales; Sarah, David and Jeremy King; and Emmeline Fillman.

Alice was a Christian whose faith was unshakable. She was selfless and lived everyday for her family. She was a very loving and giving person. Mamaw's home was always open to everyone.....her love knew no bounds. Her joy for life could always been seen in her beautiful smile and bright blue eyes. Everyone loved "Mamaw".

Her world was full of glitz and glitter.....anything that sparkles. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. She enjoyed shopping and buying that perfect gift. One of her greatest joys was watching all the kids open their presents. She was also an amazing homemaker known for her cooking. Her recipes are cherished by many and, will live on for years.

Alice enjoyed shopping, arts and crafts, camping, fishing, cooking, gardening, playing cards and other games, reading and puzzles.   She also enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite destinations was always to Louisiana in front of a slot machine and every trip had to include a visit to "Steamboat Bill's" for shrimp.

Alice was a loving wife, momma, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was the Matriarch of our family and will be missed always.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, February 15, 2018, Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, McDade, Texas.
