N.A. “Sonny” Trimble died Wednesday November 18, 2010. He was born December 28, 1937 in Buffalo, NY to Walter and Elmira Trimble. Sonny graduated in 1955 from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, TX. He served his country in the US Navy from 1957 to 1961 aboard the USS Dyess. After completing his service he moved to Austin to enroll in the University of Texas where he majored in electrical engineering. In 1964 he married Joyce Donop and they had two children, Christine and Steven. He worked as a bookkeeper for many years before becoming partners in the Capitol Roofing Company. He then owned and operated Travis Roofing Supply until his retirement in the late 80’s. Sonny was an avid gamer who enjoyed bowling as well as playing casino blackjack. In his later days, he enjoyed playing poker with the folks at the Bastrop Senior Center.
He is survived by his daughter Christine and husband Allen McAllister of Taylor, TX; sisters, LaRue Thompson of Buffalo, NY, Bonnie O’Sullivan and husband Dennis of Hamburg, NY, Elaine Gilbert of Kingwood, TX; and a brother, David Trimble and wife Charlotte of Pleasanton, CA. He is also survived by three grandsons, Dan Sheffield, David Sheffield and wife Kelly of San Antonio, TX and Steven McAllister of Taylor, TX; as well as two great-granddaughters, Lily-Anne and Lexis Mae Sheffield. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Elmira Trimble and his son, Steven Trimble.
