Charles Ray Williams

Charles Ray Williams was born July 5, 1939 in Lufkin, Texas to Rachel Albritton and Willie A. (Bill) Williams. He attended school at Smiley in Houston, then began working at an early age in his own boat repair business. In the mid 1960’s, he then began another business, Polytex Manufacturing, Inc. where he manufactured fiberglass storage tanks for food service companies and the oil and gas industry. He met Betsy Gilbert in 1967, and they married in 1968. They had two daughters, Rachel and Rebecca. He continued serving the Houston area with fiberglass tanks and repair through 1980. In 1980, he and his family moved to their farm in Jeddo, Texas, and raised cattle and hay. He then constructed and began operating a commercial laying house from 1990 to 2010. He officially retired in February, 2010 from “egg-picking”. Throughout all of his years he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and teaching his grandsons all he could about fishing, crabbing, coin collecting and harvesting pecans. Charles died suddenly of a heart attack on November 13 in Port Aransas, while on a fishing trip with his nephew, Billy. He was preceded in death by his mother Rachel Williams, father W.A. (Bill) Williams, brother W. A. Williams, Jr. and a nephew, Mickey Williams. He is survived by his wife Betsy, and daughter Rebecca of Jeddo and Rachel, Bobby, Weston and Luke Bauer of Rockne. He is also survived by children Deborah Guidorzi of Missouri, Charlene and Albert Sanchez of Bay City, Kelly Williams of Canyon Lake and Charles and Keri Williams, Jr. of Houston, a sister Louise and Jimmy Earhart of Splendora, and brother Roy and Betty Williams of Rowlett, nieces Joy Williams, Cheryl Williams and nephews Billy Williams, Ray Williams, James Earhart, Toby Earhart, Aaron Williams and Miles Williams. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rockne, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bastrop county Pecan Growers Auxiliary, % First National Bank, PO Drawer F, Attention Margaret Hanna, Bastrop, TX 78602.
