James (Jim) R. Clark passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on November 2, 2010, at the age of 85. He was born November 15, 1924, to Jack and Allyne Gutherie Clark in Coldspring, Texas.
He was proud to tell everyone he was a veteran of World War II. He served in the U.S. Army as an ambulance driver while stationed in England.
After returning home he met and married, Jean Conaway. They celebrated sixty-four years of love this past June. His long career as a supervisor for H.B. Zachary Construction Company kept him traveling throughout the country but it was important for him to have his family near no matter where he landed. He finally landed in Bastrop and here the family made their home. After 37 years with Zachary, James retired and started enjoying his grandkids.
James was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Douglas Clark, granddaughter Stacy Lynn Klaus, great-granddaughter Aubrey Akoumata Hola and “adopted” son Gerald “Pee-Wee” Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife Jean, daughters Jackie Roy and husband Bill of Livingston, Louisiana, Pat Trigg and husband Jim of Port Lavaca, Texas, Kalda Klaus and husband Gregory of Red Rock, Texas, Lisa Jimenez and husband Y.J. of Citrus Heights, California and Jeannine Muehr and husband Damian of Red Rock, Texas . He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren who dearly loved their “Paw-Paw” ,Sisters Edna Burke of Madisonville, Texas, Louise Whatley of Lumberton, Texas, brothers Robert “Tencie” Clark of Shepard, Texas and Jack Clark of Bastrop and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are grandsons: Brett Trigg of Gordon, Texas, William “Scooter” Roy of Hubert, North Carolina, Trent Jimenez of San Marcos, Texas and Brandon Muehr, Jeff Klaus, Vincent Muehr, Jason Klaus and Jordan Muehr all of Red Rock, Texas. Honorary pallbearers are all his nieces and nephews.
Donations may be made to the World War II Memorial or the donors’ choice.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 4, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and services at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2010 with burial immediately following at Fairview Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be provided by The Honor Guard serving Bastrop County
