James William Eckert

James Eckert, 95, of Bastrop, Texas and formerly of Upland, Indiana died on August 27, 2010.  He was born on August 9, 1915 in St. Louis, MO. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bastrop.  He was a veteran of World War II having served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe,  and Battle of the Bulge as a member of the 924th Aviation Engineers attached to the 101st Airborne. Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Geraldine “Jerri” Eckert; children, Ronald of St. Louis, Tim and wife Jennifer of Westfield, Indiana, and daughter Kellie Pace and husband Mike of Upland, Indiana; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church in Bastrop.
