James Eckert, 95, of Bastrop, Texas and formerly of Upland, Indiana died on August 27, 2010. He was born on August 9, 1915 in St. Louis, MO.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bastrop. He was a veteran of World War II having served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, and Battle of the Bulge as a member of the 924th Aviation Engineers attached to the 101st Airborne.
Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Geraldine “Jerri” Eckert; children, Ronald of St. Louis, Tim and wife Jennifer of Westfield, Indiana, and daughter Kellie Pace and husband Mike of Upland, Indiana; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church in Bastrop.
