Marilyn Janet Pigeon

January 22, 1938 — August 29, 2017

Marilyn Janet Pigeon, 79, passed away quietly on August 29, 2017 at her home in Bastrop, Texas after a courageous three year battle with liver cancer. This world was graced with her presence when she was born on January 22, 1938 in Lawrence, Massachusettes to John and Jean (McComiski) Carver. Marilyn grew up in Andover, Massachusettes where she graduated from Punchard High School in 1955. After high school she married her high school heart throb, Louis Francis Pigeon Jr., who swept her away on June 6, 1955 for 34 wonderful years of love, travel, and adventure as an Army wife. Along the way they added four more limbs to the family tree - Edward Louis (8 January 1956), Lynne Theresa (27 June 1957), Scott Andrew (27 March 1959), and Stephen Patrick (21 May 1961). Marilyn worked her magic as a wife, mother, and homemaker until the youngest entered high school when she was finally free to take on the 'working' world. She enjoyed her work and never backed away from her responsibilities - at home or on the job. She took up golf and played with all of her heart until she 'retired' to give the balls a rest. But she never gave up on the game and continued enjoying watching the Pros do their magic. Marilyn loved dogs and her many canine companions brought her much joy and comfort over the years. Missy, Fifi, Misty Blue I, Misty Blue II, Rocky, Charlie, Molly, and Tamsy, each in turn, took up the baton from their predecessor and helped make this world much more bearable while 'assigned' to Mom. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Lynne, of Bastrop, Texas; her son, Scott and his wife, Susan, of Grover Beach, California; her three grandsons, two granddaughters-in-law, and three great grandchildren - Matthew and his wife, Brittany, with their children, Samuel and Benjamin, of Santa Margarita, California; Matthew's daughter, Coral, of Ventura, California; Andrew and his wife, Kristin, of Atascadero, California; and Timothy of Grover Beach, California. Marilyn and Louis' torrid love affair was interrupted too soon when Lou suddenly passed from this life in 1989. She also had to say good-bye too soon to her sons, Edward and Stephen; her parents John and Jean; and her brother Jack. A memorial service will be held at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Hwy 71 East, at 11:00 on Saturday, September 2, 2017. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Bastrop Humane Society.
