Shelley McKay, age 61, of Bastrop passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 in a car wreck. Shelley was born in Houston and raised in Rosebud and Bellville. She was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University and was a semi-retired CPA. She developed lifelong friendships through her time as an avid competitive tennis player on leagues throughout Texas and enjoyed working outdoors, hiking, water skiing, and traveling. Shelley also loved spending time with her dogs and always made room for more in the family.
Shelley was preceded in death by her parents, Shelley D. and Modean Norman, and sister, Nancy Ann Norman. She was survived by her husband of 40 years, Pat; two daughters, Megan and Morgan; nephew, Reed Norman; uncle, Roy Casey and wife, Sandra. She was also survived by her mother in law, Martie McKay, sisters in law, Connie Wilkie (Paul), Claire Hart (Curtis), Alice Orsini (Ron), and Ruthie Diharce (Mike), as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation and services will be held at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home Monday, February 6, 2017 from 6-8pm with funeral services Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11am. Internment immediately to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop, Texas.
Shelley was a breast cancer survivor since 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to MD Anderson or the American Cancer Society.
