Arthur Selvera Rivas

Arthur Selvera Rivas, born December 12, 1943, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2016 in his home in Bastrop, Texas. Arthur is the eldest son of the late Alex and Olivia Rivas, preceded in death by his brother Robert, and is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Olga R. Rivas and their only son, John David Rivas and his wife, Kari Wilson Rivas of Austin, Texas, brothers Alex, Noe, and Ray, sisters Becky, Carolina, Esther, Gloria, Norma, Rachel, Ruth, and Stella. Arthur loved classic cars, jeeps, fishing, animals, music, and movies. He was a snappy dresser and was young at heart. He had a wonderful personality. He would start a conversation with anyone he met and always told a joke or offered a compliment. He was a follower of God and knew the Lord was at his side during his final year here on earth as he battled terminal cancer. A memorial service is scheduled for him on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Highway 71 East, Bastrop, TX 78602. The viewing begins at 1 pm, followed by a service at 2 pm and a reception at the American Legion, located at 3003 Loop 150 E, Bastrop, TX 78602. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and caregivers of Texas Oncology, St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, and Hospice Austin.
