HAROLD WAS BORN IN CROCKETT, TEXAS ON JULY 29, 1941, A FIFTH GENERATION TEXAN. HAROLD IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS MOTHER AND FATHER, ALMA FAYE AND RAYMOND HENRY HIROMS, AND SON RANDALL KEITH HIROMS.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS DEVOTED WIFE OF 55 YEARS, GENEVA STARLING HIROMS, HIS LOVING SON, MICHAEL AND WIFE, NIDIA, TWO BEAUTIFUL GRANDCHILDREN THAT HE ADORED, ZACHARY AND COLBI, STEP GRANDSON NICK AND WIFE ROSLYNN, GREAT GRANDCHILDREN MIA, NIKO AND NOEY. TWO YOUNGER SISTERS, JAN AND BARBARA.
HAROLD ATTENDED AUSTONIO PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN AUSTONIO, TEXAS, UNTIL THEIR CLOSURE IN HIS SENIOR YEAR. HE GRADUATED FROM CROCKETT HIGH SCHOOL IN CROCKETT, TEXAS IN 1958. HAROLD WORKED FOR HOUSTON COUNTY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, AND THEREAFTER WAS CALLED TO DUTY WITH THE UNITED STATES NATIONAL GUARD, WHERE HE WAS DISCHARGED AS A SSG-E6 IN COMPANY B, 5TH BATTALION, 112TH ARMOR IN 1962. HE RETURNED TO CROCKETT TO RESUME HIS CAREER AT THE COOPERATIVE WHERE HE WORKED FOR THE NEXT 19 YEARS. IN 1976 HAROLD TOOK A JOB WORKING IN ABQAIQ, SAUDI ARABIA, AS AN ELECTRICAL SUPERVISOR FOR ARABIAN AMERICAN OIL COMPANY, WHERE HE REMAINED UNTIL NOVEMBER OF 2000. HAROLD RETURNED TO OPERATE AND CO-OWN AN ELECRICAL CONTRACT BUISNESS IN HOT SPRINGS, ARKANSAS IN 1982. HE LEFT HOT SPRINGS IN 1984 AND MOVED TO BASTROP, TEXAS WHERE HE WORKED AS DIVISION MANAGER OF BLUEBONNETT ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE. HAROLD LEFT BASTROP IN 1989 AND RETURNED TO SAUDI ARABIA WHERE HE REMAINED UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT IN NOVEMBER OF 2000. HAROLD RETURNED TO BASTROP COUNTY WHERE HE SPENT TIME BETWEEN HOME AND THE SMALL TREE FARM IN KENNARD, TEXAS.
HAROLD DIED IN THE CARE OF FAMILY AND HOSPICE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th 2016. HE WAS WELL THOUGHT OF AND LOVED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM WORLD-WIDE. HAROLD ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED IN THE ELKS LODGE, THE MASONIC LODGE AND AMERICAN LEGION POST #0533. HE ENJOYED PLAYING DOMINOES WITH HIS FRIENDS AND WAS RENOWNED AS A COMPETITIVE PLAYER. HAROLD ALSO WON MANY TROPHIES AND CARRIED A 3 HCP AS A CROSS-HANDED GOLFER. HAROLD WAS AN AVID OUTDOORSMAN, WHETHER IT WAS HUNTING, FISHING, SKEET SHOOTING OR JUST MOWING PASTURES. HE RAISED CATTLE, ENJOYED FARMING AND RANCHING ACTIVITIES AND SPENDING TIME WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS. HAROLD WILL BE DEARLY MISSED.
SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT GEORIGIA CAMP BAPTIST CHURCH 2:00 P.M. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2016 IN AUSTONIO, TEXAS. DIRECTIONS: FROM AUSTONIO TAKE CR 1280 SOUTH, TAKE A LEFT ON CR3385, CHURCH WILL BE DOWN ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.
