Ginger Lee Cole

Ginger L. Cole, age 68, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 following a brief battle of Bone Marrow Cancer. She was born November 15, 1947 to Wayne and Dorothy McCormick in Toledo, Ohio. She was raised in Burlington, Kansas and graduated from Burlington High School in 1965. On November 12, 1968 she married the love of her life, L. James Cole, at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. From there, Ginger moved to Wellsville, New York in 1970 and Cedar Creek, Texas in 2008 following her retirement. She worked in the Banking Business for 25 years and retired from Community Bank in Wellsville, New York. Ginger loved traveling, Music, Reading, and Coin Collecting, but mostly caring and tending to her inside plants. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wellsville where she held several Leadership Positions and transferred her membership to the Cedar Creek United Methodist Church. There, she did several fundraisers, babysat the children for the MOPS Program, served as an Usher for eight years, and enjoyed the Tuesday Bible study groups. Ginger was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Wellsville and a Past president for the Wellsville Grand Squares Dance Club. She was also a member of the Wellsville High School Band Booster Club for 9 years and enjoyed chaperoning marching band trips. Her favorite was going to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Dorothy McCormick of Burlington, Kansas. Father and Mother-in-Law Leo and Ida Cole of Wellsville, New York and Brother-in-Law John Cole of Buffalo, New York. Ginger is survived by her loving and devoted husband L. James Cole of Cedar Creek, Texas; Daughter, Deborah (Bruce) Sakach of Farmington Hills, Michigan and their two dogs Chester and Tommy Boy; Son, Brian (Emma) Cole of Bowie, Maryland and her 11 year old grandson Tyler, who was the joy of her life; sisters Janet (Dave) Cornwell of Emporia, Kansas, Nikki Harris of Burlington, Kansas, Sandy McCormick of Lawrence, Kansas; brother-in-law, Leo (Penelope) Cole of Cedar Creek, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Musolff of Bastrop, Texas. She is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Nieces and a very special friend Ann Holland of Wellsville, New York. Memorial donations will be welcomed by the Hospice Austin’s Christopher House in Austin, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Cedar Creek, Texas.
