Lona Vollmering Burwell

Lona Vollmering Burwell, age 80 of Bastrop passed away July 10, 2016. Lona was born November 15, 1935 in Hebbronville, Texas to Fritz Christian and Edna Yates Vollmering. She was preceded in death by her grandson James Scott Sloan. Lona is survived by her children Debarah Burwell Sloan of Livingston, Texas, Randall Keith Burwell and wife Pat of San Antonio, Texas, and Steven Brant Burwell and wife Cissy of Omaha, Nebraska; brother Fritz “Sonny” Vollmering; 7 Grandchildren, and numerous Great Grandchildren. Lona was a Classical Guitarist and a music teacher. She taught Music at Laredo Junior College. Lona helped build the music program at the Austin Classical Guitar Society. She had a great love of Jesus, her family, and music. Visitation will be 2:00pm Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
