Judy Lynn Short

Judy Lynn Short died late Friday afternoon surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents E. Odis and Helen Simmons and her brother Gary Simmons. Judy was survived and dearly loved by her husband of nearly 26 years James T. Short (Jim); her daughters Amanda Cano and husband Eduardo, Andrea Kelly and husband Chris; her siblings Brenda Bishop and husband Bill, Debbie Russell and husband Buddy, Larry Simmons and wife Billie, Rhonda Palmisano and husband Greg, Paula Simmons, Cheryl Gilcrease and husband Billy, Patti Strawther and husband Tom, Ken Simmons; and her beloved grandchildren Sarah Lynn Cano, Todd Landon Bailey, April Elizabeth Cano, and Jacob Paul Cano. She will be remembered for her beauty, intelligence, sense of humor, and outspokenness. Her favorite roles in life were being a wife, a mother, a sister, and most definitely being a grandma. Family was everything to her. A service will be held at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Hwy 71 E Bastrop, Texas, on Tuesday, May 24 at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. The family wishes to thank St David’s South Austin Hospital for their care. In lieu of flowers, blood donations can be made at your local blood donation center in Judy’s honor. Also, her love for animals was well known to all. Therefore, donations can be made to the Houston Zoo at www.houstonzoo.org in her honor.
