Growing up in a German community in a rural farm setting, Agnes learned the value of family, faith and hard work which she carried with her throughout her exceptional life. At the age of 18, she decided to pursue her passion to become a Registered Nurse which led to her graduating from Seton School of Nursing in Austin, TX in 1943 with her RN degree.
While attending nursing school, Agnes met her husband Bobby Griesenbeck and they married June 12, 1942. Agnes and Bobby relocated to Providence, RI during their military hitch then settled down to raise their family in Smithville (Alum Creek), Tx in 1945.
Agnes was a women of great faith. She was confirmed in 1937 at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham, then in 1954, she joined the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop where she taught Sunday school and attended faithfully, and made lifelong friends. In September 1998 during her trip to Israel, Agnes was baptized in the River Jordan.
Aside from family, one of her greatest joys was nursing. In 1966, she was hired by the Smithville ISD to implement and run the school nurse program. Agnes worked as School Nurse, where she touched so many lives with her kindness, caring and dedication, until her retirement in 1985. In retirement, Agnes loved tending her garden, flowers and traveling. Most of all, she loved spending time and sharing her joy with her family. She was, and is, a joyful and sweet soul.
