Gladys Esther Ornelas

Gladys Esther Firpi Ornelas was born February 19th, 1925, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. She was the youngest of five children born to Carlos and Isabel Firpi: siblings, Blanca, Anatolia, Carlos and Isabel. She passed away in Bastrop, Texas, August 17th 2015. She was preceded in death by son, Hugo Sorensen, survived by her children, Kesh Sorensen Ferino (Randy) , Linda Ornelas Wilson (Frank), David Ornelas (Susan), John Robert Ornelas (Terri), and Tom; 14 Grandchildren, 7 Great-Grandchildren. Gladys worked at the State of Illinois, as a Supervisor in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. She received a Masters degree in Counseling and Guidance from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1973. Visitation will be from 3:30-4:30 pm Thursday August 20, 2015 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 4:30 pm in the Funeral Home chapel. She will be interred at a later date, with her beloved husband of 41 years, Manuel Ornelas, at Arlington National Cemetery.
