Thomas Harrison Miller

December 21, 1938 — February 13, 2015

Thomas (TOM) Harrison Miller Well, again Austin has lost one of it's own. Tom grew up in Austin, Texas. He, like many of his friends used it's schools, play grounds, hospitals, restaurants, and roadways. He , however, was fortunate enough to have swam and fished in the Colorado River, before it was Ladybird Lake. Played on the 1951(first and last) Austin Little League Baseball team to go the National Championships. Had a drivers license at age 14. Sold Holiday fireworks from "open neighborhood stands" on East Avenue, now IH 35 and on Lake Austin Blvd., near The Deep Eddie Swimming Pool, and the corner of Riverside Drive and So. Congress Ave. He played chase with friends on the open grounds near the Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks, which is now MOPAC Highway. Some of Toms proudest moments were helping to build roads in the Grand Canyon, serving in the US Navy, having his two daughters and son, marrying His lovely wife Tish and visiting with and helping his many friends. In the late 1990s, Tom's many medical doctor's appointments caused him to have to wait near a Super Market, which served food and coffee. Tom used this opportunity to contact his friends for a "Chat and Chew". Those encounters were so much fun to the classmates, that it caused many of his friends to visit at the same time each week and thus began the "AHS 56 Class Klatsch". It is not uncommon for as many as 25 - 30 classmates to visit each other each week. "THANKS TOM" Tom was the son of Charles Lowery and Sarah Lucile Anderson Miller. He admired his older brother Anderson Charles Miller. All of whom are deceased. Tom is survived by his lovely wife Tish Miller of Rockne, Texas, son Drake Miller of Victoria, Texas, Daughter Tracy Miller of San Marcos, Texas and Daughter Margaret Miller Miner and husband Ken Larkin of Boulder, Colorado. Tom is also survived by his grand children Max, Phoebe, and Caroline Miner. Samantha and husband Joe Strange, and Kevin Miller. Great Grand Children: Lane, Aydin, and Westin Strange. Step Children : Kim Winegarner, Tracy Fryer (Nick), Jason Keating, and Courtney Tutt (Andre), of Rockne, Texas. Step Grand Children: Ashley, Kaylee, Aubrie, Zane, Emma, Cheyanne, Payton (deceased), and Dylan. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockne, Texas. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
