Rosario Reyes passed away on November 28, 2014. He had struggled with cancer but now is in the direct caring hands of our savior Jesus Christ. Rosario was born on October 7, 1941 to Lidio and Eulalia Reyes in Cedar Creek, Texas and continued to live and reside in the same home he was born in until the day he passed. Rosario served in the United States Army for 5 years until he was honorably discharged in November of 1969. Well known for his strong work ethic and ability to handle heavy equipment he took on jobs in this arena to care for his family. His longest employment ended after more than 20 years of working for Jimmy Callahan at Sunshine Sand & Gravel Inc. in Holland, TX. He is survived by his wife, Elisa Reyes, to which he was married for 45 years, his children Ronnie Reyes, Angie Valderrama, Lidia Gonzales, Simon Reyes, and Krystal Reyes. He has two sons in law: Maurice Gonzales and Fil Valderrama. He leaves behind four grandchildren: Christopher Valderrama, Abby Valderrama, Antonio Gonzales, and Abrahm Gonzales. Rosario has 7 siblings: Gracie Lopez (deceased), Uvelia Carter and husband, Hill Reyes and wife, Ben Reyes and wife, Roberto Reyes and wife, Johnny Reyes (deceased), and Joe Reyes (deceased). He has many cousins, nephews and nieces as well as friends who will remember him fondly. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and in particular his grandchildren. If there is anything that defined Rosario Reyes as a man it would be his selfless and willing heart to always help others, it didn’t matter how hard or messy the job was. He will be missed dearly by his family but they rejoice in knowing he is in heaven. Rosary will be 7:00pm Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10:00am Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop. Burial will follow in Campo Santo De Cedar Creek near Cedar Creek.
