JOANN (GOERTZ) JOHNSON As Joann might say, "I have gone to meet Jesus." Joann (Goertz) Johnson, 81, of Rockne, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, August 27, 2014. Joann was the firstborn of Fred and Mary Goertz's 15 children. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, a devout Christian and a strong believer in God. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Frederick Goertz and James Gordon Goertz, and sisters Claudette Griffith and Isabel Bishop. She is survived by her husband Don Johnson; sisters Annabel Harris of Houston, Yvonne Darilek and husband Julius of Rockne, Mary Jane Goertz of Austin, Rose Parris of Austin, Joy Goertz of Austin, Sandra Higgins and husband Felix of Fort Worth; brothers Stephen Goertz and wife Barbara of Spring, Johnny Goertz of Rockne, Dan Gertz of Pasadena, California, and Bob Goertz and wife Lori of Missouri City, Texas; brother-in-law Bob Bishop of Dallas; and sister-in-law Ovon Goertz of Rockne. She led a joyful life, always with a smile and generosity toward others. She could be counted on to be at all family gatherings and celebrations. She gave so much love to her 38 nieces and nephews, 62 grandnieces and grandnephews, and 17 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. The family extends thanks and gratitude to Judy Adams of Girling Health Care, Resolutions Hospice and Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their special care in the last few weeks. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockne. Rosary on Wednesday, September 3, at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass on Thursday, September 4, at 10:30 AM.
