Dr. Frank C. Sammis, Jr. went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2013 at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine Sammis; his brother, Dr. William L. Sammis; and his granddaughter, Michele L. Landrum.
He is survived by: his daughter, Mary Kay Landrum and her husband, Ronnie, of Bastrop, Texas and his son, Dr. Frank C. Sammis III and his wife, Jennifer of San Antonio; grandchildren, Michael W. Landrum and his wife, Tracy and their children, Audrey and Ryan of Cedar Park, Texas, Kate and Ryan Hindt and their child, Clay, of New Braunfels and Skeet Sammis of San Antonio.
He was a native of San Antonio and attended St. Mary’s University, the University of Texas at Austin and Loyola University Dental School in New Orleans. Dr. Sammis did his residency at the Robert B. Green Hospital and served his country in the Public Health Service in New York City.
A very kind and compassionate oral surgeon, he cared for many patients in San Antonio and the surrounding area at the Nix Hospital for 45 years. After retirement he kept busy with his passions – ranching, hunting, fishing and his love for animals.
A private service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
