Robert Cleveland ‘Daddy Bob’ Watson Robert C. Watson passed away on June 15, 2013, at the age of 92. He was born on January 22, 1921, in Bastrop County to John William and Anna Laura Watson and was a fourth generation Bastropian. Mr. Watson served in the Army radar unit during World War II where he made multiple amphibious landings in the Pacific theatre. He married Jennie Ruth Ellison on September 6, 1942. Bob and Ruth Watson were happily married for 54 years. They were blessed with two sons, William Edward (Buster) Watson and Robert Cecil (Bobby) Watson. Bob Watson graduated from Bastrop High School in 1938 where he played football and received all district honors. He served on the BISD Board of Trustees for four years and as president during 1969. He was a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church and was an avid golfer at Lost Pines Golf Course scoring a record 8 hole-in-ones. Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Ruth Watson. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, William E. (Buster) and Kathy Watson, and Robert C. (Bobby) and Teri Watson. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren Robert Watson, Robin Watson Heminger, Ryan Watson and Drew Watson, and their spouses as well as 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Monday, June 17 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Services are 10:00am Tuesday, June 18 at the funeral home with burial following in Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors by the Honor Guard Serving Bastrop County. The family requests memorial contributions to the Calvary Baptist Church Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.
