One of the “Peterson Girls”, Elsie was born in Bastrop, graduated from Bastrop High School in 1941, and worked for Southwestern Bell for 37 years until retirement in 1979. She loved to travel, rarely missing a First National Bank trip, and loved to watch high school sports, particularly BHS girls’ basketball and volleyball, with her sister Esther. Elsie always looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings in the Peterson house with her family. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Bastrop, where she was married in 1948. Sundays often found her on the church steps greeting old friends and new. She was a kind, gentle, and caring lady, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Remembrances can be made to the Fred Wright, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o First National Bank of Bastrop, or a charity of your choice.
