RAYMOND FRANCIS HINES
Raymond Francis Hines, 90, passed away April 17, 2013.
He was born in Clarion, Iowa March 10, 1923.
He was the eldest son of eight children born to
Sylvia and Francis Hines.
After graduation from High School in Council Bluffs,
Iowa, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1939.
Ray was one of the first naval servicemen to be stationed
at the new Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas,
when it was commissioned in 1941.
He met the former Joy Campion of Sinton, Tx. and they were married
March 20, 1943. He served his country during WWII,
spending two years in the South Pacific.
Ray was Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1947 and made his home
in Sinton, Tx. with his wife and two young sons.
In 1950 the family moved to Corpus Christi where he worked 20 years
as Parts Manager for Ed Hoffman Motors and Auto Parts Wholesale.
He also worked 20 years for Creveling Dodge Motors. Ray was an active
member of Second Baptist Church in Corpus Christi for over 56 years.
He retired in 1989. Joy and Ray moved to Bastrop in 2006.
He is survived by two sons; Terry and wife Dixie Hines of Bastrop
and Gary and wife Ellen Hines of Houston. He had four grandchildren;
Ryan and wife Kristi Hines of Round Rock, Tx, Kevin Hines of Waco, Tx,
Kristi Hines of El Paso, Tx and Justin Hines of Chattanooga,Tn and
two great-grandchildren, Kinley Grace Hines and Hudson Blake Hines of
Round Rock, Tx. He left a sister Merlene Andreason of Forest City,
Iowa, a brother Bill (and wife Ann) Hines of Clarion, Iowa,
a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Troy and Delta Campion of
Portland, Tx and many nieces and nephews.
Ray is pre-deceased by wife Joy Hines in 2008, two sisters
Marjorie Hubert and Lila Carpenter and two brothers Burt Hines
and Robert Hines.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, April 22, 2103, Sinton Cemetery, Sinton, Texas.
