Cynthia Lucille (Klein) Nisula, age 73, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, surrounded by her family. Cynthia was born on November 13, 1939 in Harlingen, Texas. She grew up in Austin and attended the University of Texas. Cynthia retired from the Texas Workforce Commission after 27 years of service. After retiring, she was able to spend more time doing what she loved, painting pictures and making artwork from Texas wildflowers. She was a member of the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild. She was truly a talented artist, and one of her paintings appeared in the movie “Bernie”. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Cynthia was an inspiration to everyone who met her and will be dearly missed by many. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ralph O. Nisula; daughter Susan Hammond of Austin, son James Nisula and wife J.J. of Round Rock, daughter Julie Sommerfeld and husband Mike of West Point, and son Mark Nisula and wife Georgia of Houston; grandchildren Catie Hammond, Danny Hammond, Dax Nisula, Luke Nisula, Kyle Sommerfeld, Carson Sommerfeld, and Texas Nisula; great-grandson Kameryn Perry; brother J.W. Scogin and wife Beatrice, sister Glenda Murray, sister-in-law Joyce Scogin, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Corinne Klein; brother Gaylord Scogin; and granddaughter Hannah Nisula.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Bastrop Providence Funeral Home at 2079 Highway 71 East in Bastrop. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Ascension Catholic Church, 804 Pine Street in Bastrop, Texas.
