Gary Glen Perryman
August 28, 1946 to March 9, 2013
Born August 28, 1946 in Texarkana, AR. to Gabriel Cole Perryman and Mary Nell (Greer) Perryman. The middle child between his brother Gale Perryman (wife Madeline) and sister Glenda Perryman. He was raised in Lubbock and Austin TX. A graduate of Austin High School. He attended Blinn Junior College and UT Austin. He served his country in the Texas National Guard from ’67-’73.
Gary’s greatest joy in his life was always his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 23 years Deborah (Jones) Perryman and children Robert Perryman and his wife Kathleen and son Ryan, Mary Katherine (Katy) Crawford her husband James and their daughters Rachel, Rebecca, and Kami, Linnaea Swenson and her son Ethan, Phillip Swenson and his wife Misty and their children Macy and Landon. He has a very large extended family that he remained very close to and loved dearly. He had a large circle of friends and colleagues each with special meaning in his life. Time spent in the company of family and friends visiting and telling stories always gave him great joy.
The career and accomplishments of Gary was very extensive. He worked in the insurance industry, owned a furniture store and pizza restaurants. The largest portion of his working life was in the construction and land development field. Spanning over 40 years with Medistar Corporation, owned by his brother-in -law Monzer Hourani , with Gary serving as president. They built, developed and owned medical facilities, hospitals and office complexes all across North America. Medistar made history with one of the largest land development deals in Texas history. Gary was always giving back to his community materially and through service including serving in leadership with the BSA.
Gary was a spiritual God loving man whose traits include compassion, integrity, loving, giving, energetic, funny, charitable, with an entrepreneurial spirit. He touched so many people’s lives across the globe that there are far too many to mention. He had a passion for helping others. He enjoyed many activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, camping and traveling. He had a great love for the beauty and majesty of all God’s creations. He will live forever in our hearts and minds and in the loving arms of God. We love you and miss you and will pass on your great legacy until we meet you and you greet us with the Lord.
Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00pm Saturday, March 16, 2013, Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Sunday, March 17, 2013, Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Smithville, TX. There will be a reception following the Interment at Red Ridge 300 KLBJ Rd, Smithville, TX 78957.
