Ruby Mary Hendrix

July 8, 1924 — July 6, 2012

Ruby Mary Kadura Hendrix, 87, passed away on July 6, 2012. Ruby, a lifelong homemaker, loved gardening and canning. She participated in numerous volunteer activities, was known for her sewing skills and her love of quilt making for her extended family, for her church, and for numerous fundraising activities. Ruby was appreciated for her strong faith, her willingness to help anyone in need, and for her support of all activities in her community of Rockne and all of Bastrop County. She was recognized as Bastrop County Extension Homemaker Woman of the Year in 1985 and was awarded the Outstanding Conservation Homemaker from the Bastrop County Soil and Water Conservation District in 1987. She proudly served as President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary to the VFW Post 2527 for many years. Ruby was very proud of her many siblings, her many nieces and nephews, and was especially proud of her granddaughter Lori, her grandson Chad, his wife Sandy, their sons Bryan and Kacey, her daughter-in-law Janet, and her son Larry. She was preceded in death by Verlin, her husband of 53 years, her great-grandson Kacey James, her parents Joe and Mary Kadura, and her eleven brothers and sisters. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Seton Riverbend Home Health and Lost Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation for their fine care and support. In lieu of flowers, please support the American Cancer Society, the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary, or VFW Post 2527 in Rockne. Ruby’s rosary service will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Rockne on Tuesday, July 10 at 7 p.m. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Rockne Wednesday, July 11 at 10:30 a.m., with interment immediately following at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
