Sophia Delgado Cruz

Sophia Delgado Cruz 93 of Bastrop, Texas passed away June 10, 2012 due to a heart problem. She was born October 4, 1918 in Bastrop, Texas to Urvano Delgado and Maria Hernandez Delgado and Step-Mother Narcissa Gongora Delgado. Sophia was a homemaker and loved spending her time with her family and friends, she was also a member of Ascension Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her mother; Maria Delgado, father; Urvano Delgado, step-mother; Narcissa Gongora Delgado, sister; Francis Delgado Marquez, and brother; Trinidad Delgado. Mrs. Cruz is survived by her 6 children; Lupe Cruz (Connie) of Bastrop, Joe Henry Cruz of Bastrop, Luis Cruz (Yolanda) of Bastrop, Mary Cruz Cody (Terry Sr.) of El Paso, Arthur Cruz (Cheryl) of State Center, Iowa, and Linda Cruz Smith (Daniel) of Bastrop, 8 grandchildren; Theresa Cody of El Paso, Terry Cody Jr. of Bastrop, Melissa Cruz Pena of Bastrop, Karen Cruz Gomez of Austin, Aric Cruz of Nevada, Iowa, Joel Cruz of State Center, Iowa, Edward Smith of Bastrop, and Jared Smith of Bastrop, 5 great-grandchildren; Raquel Pena, Ava Gomez, Joshua Pena, Yale Cruz, and Evelyn Pena, and 2 sisters; Vivian Delgado Gomez of Austin, and Carmen Delgado Arismendez of Austin. Rosary will be held 7:00-9:00 pm Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Mass will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Ascension Catholic Church with Interment following at Alta Vista Cemetery.
