Leslie Dean Evans was born in San Marcos, Texas on February 4, 1946 to Blanche and Arthur Evans. He died on June 1,2012 in Bastrop after a 20 month battle with brain cancer.
He had worked many years in the telecommunications field and had owned his own company prior to his illness.
He was a great "Fighting Irish" Notre Dame football fan as well as a North Carolina "Tar Heels" basketball fan. He enjoyed going camping at Port Aransas, spending time with his family and gambling in Lake Charles.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Rita of Bastrop, daughter Allison Evans and her fiance Darrel Rittman of Bastrop, daughter Darla Green and her husband Clint and grandson Landon of Dale, son Paul David of Conway, South Carolina. He took great comfort in the companionship of his four legged kids - Jacques, Romeo and Lady. He is also survived by his brothers, Arthur Evans Jr. of Lockhart, Elmer Evans of
Temple, George Evans and wife Terry of Lockhart. Sisters Lois Wimberly of San
Marcos, Blanche Arnold of Houston, Virgie Rae Grube and husband Chuck of Tucson,
Arizona, Fernetta Davis of San Marcos, and Janice Bishop and husband Jim of Lockhart.
Also surviving are in-laws Clarence and Debbie Opiela of Gonzales, Leroy and Elva
Opiela of Buda, Patricia and Terry Williams of Seguin and Alton and Connie Opiela of
Luling. Also numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Blanche and Arthur Evans, daughter Denise,brothers Jimmie, Elbert and Marvin Lee Evans and sister Wanda Dryden.
Visitation will be Sunday June 3, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Monday June 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the pavilion at Memory
Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Martindale, Texas.
