John Robert Daebelliehn, 78, of Cedar Creek, TX, went home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2011, in Austin, TX.? Viewing will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29th at the Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Hwy 71 E., from 6pm to 8pm in Bastrop, TX. Service will be held on Fri. Dec. 30th at 10am at Bastrop Christian Outreach Center, 1096 Hwy 71 W., Bastrop, TX, 78602, followed by the burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX at 2pm. There will be a military tribute honoring John’s 22 years in the Marine Corps. All family and friends are invited to attend all services. In lieu of flowers, John’s wishes were for donations to be made to the Bastrop Christian Outreach Center’s Building Fund. John was born Aug. 9, 1933, in Moline, IL the son of Frank F. and Norma A. Daebelliehn. He graduated from Moline High School. John married his one true love Beverly June Ashford in Moline on March 2, 1956. While serving active duty in the Marine Corps, John also served eighteen years as a dedicated leader and District Commissioner for the Boys Scouts of America. After retiring from the Corps in 1975, he worked as a Craft Supervisor for Pacific Power in Wyoming. John then retired, for the second time, from the power plant, and formed his own carpentry business in Arizona, eventually settling in Cedar Creek, Texas. John is survived by his wife Beverly, of 55 years; his three children, John W. of Broken Arrow, OK; Frank R. (Tracy) of Brookshire, TX; and Diane M. (Rocky) Neal of St. George, UT; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and siblings: Roderick Daebelliehn of Tipton, IA; Helen Gillette and Linda Markwood, both of Colorado Springs, CO; and many nieces and nephews.
