Eugene Franklin Goertz

Eugene "Bunny" Franklin Goertz, age 78 of Cedar Creek, Texas passed away August 11, 2011. He was born May 23, 1933 to Matthew and Katie Frerich Goertz. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Curtis Goertz; sisters, Juanita Sconci and Glyn Rose Meuth; and by his first wife, Alberta Ray Goertz. He is survived by his wife, Velma Dykes Goertz; sisters Valeria Bartsch and Norma Kubicek; stepsons, Gregory Neal Crawford and Jeffery Scott Crawford; stepdaughter, Sharon Sweeney; granddaughters, Jamie Crawford Benberg and husband Zac, Sarah Sweeney VanMeter and husband Kevin; gransons, Robert Neal Sweeney and Sean Patrick Sweeney; and great-grandson, Herbert Neal Benberg. He served four years in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by TXDot, Austin for 35 years. A Rosary was held Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne. The funeral Mass was held Monday, August 15 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial was in Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, Austin, Texas.
