Bill Devereux was born on February 23, 1947 in Goose Creek, Texas and grew up in Baytown, Texas. He died on June 20, 2011 at St. David’s Hospital in Austin.
On August 23, 1965 he married Janice Tilton in Splendora, Texas. They had two sons, Wendell Dean Devereux and Wayne Edward Devereux.
Bill was electrician, by trade, and earned his Master Electrician License in Brenham, Texas in 1972. Later, he had a small printing business, then a hair care manufacturing business in Houston. In 1986, he moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee and continued the manufacturing business there, later moving to Prattville and Montgomery, Alabama.
Bill is preceded in death by his former wife, Janice Devereux; brother, Benjamin Franklin Devereux III; and his nephew, David Devereux. He is survived by sons Wendell Dean Devereux and wife, Rebecca and their three additions to the family, grandchildren: Tyler Devereux, Molly Devereux, and Will Devereux, all of Prattville Alabama, and another son, Wayne Edward Devereux. He is also survived by parents, Ben and Hilda Devereux, of Bastrop and by life partner and closest friend for the last 14 years, Mark Medina of Bastrop. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bastrop.
A graveside celebration of life will be held at the McDade Cemetery on Thursday, June 23 at 10:00 am.
