Donald A. Calvert

Donald Alexander Calvert passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. He was born February 16, 1926 to Donald and Robbie Smith Calvert in Springfield, Kentucky. He married Pat Victor on December 17, 1949. They had two children, Cyndi Calvert Hannusch and Staci Calvert. Don and his family moved to Bastrop in 1978 as a Personnel Officer at the Federal Prison when it opened. He retired in 1981 and kept busy with various civic activities in Bastrop. He served on the City Council and later as Municipal Judge. He was a member of the Mina Masonic Lodge, served on the Parks Board, helped to found Bastrop Teen Court and worked to implement Bastrop County’s 911 emergency addressing system. He was an active member of Calvary Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry, the finance committee and on the Board of Directors for Calvary Episcopal School. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat. He is survived by his daughters, his two grandchildren, Megan and Jordan Hannusch, his sister, Dorothy Conklin, her husband Don, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be 2:00p.m. Monday, June 6, 2011 at Calvary Episcopal Church in Bastrop. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Calvary Episcopal Church or Aseracare Hospice.
