Lavenia Marie Henderson

Lavenia Marie Henderson was born in Marlow, Oklahoma on September 25, 1932 to Estel and Bessie Malone. She was raised in Skellytown, Texas and lived in Pampa, Texas, where she married Bill Henderson on November 30, 1955. They moved to Bastrop in September of 1962 where they raised four sons: Donald, Robert, Mark, and Matthew. She had several jobs in the Bastrop area, but the one she loved most was the 17 years she ran Mina Cafeteria, where she became Mama Henderson to every child that ate there. She is survived by her sons Donald “Dickie” Henderson and wife Margie, Robert Henderson and wife Rose, and Matthew “Matt” Henderson and wife Molly; brother, A. C. Malone and wife, Estelle; sister, Naomi Neciase and husband Charles; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Estel and Bessie Malone; husband, Bill Henderson; son, Mark Henderson; and granddaughter, Christine. Pallbearers are Steven Henderson, Logan Henderson, Heather Henderson, Earl Pence, Jake Atwood, and Less Mott, Jr. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 10:30 am at the Bastrop Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life in care of Margaret Hanna at First National Bank in Bastrop.
