Alice Ruth Hillis, 80 of Cedar Creek, Texas died Friday, January 21, 2011 in Austin, Texas.
Visitation will be Monday, 6PM to 8PM at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be Tuesday, 2 PM at the First Assembly of God Church in Bastrop, Texas, with Reverend Phil Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Alice Ruth Hillis was born August 18, 1930 to the late Ira and Reba (Ramsey) Bias in Racine, West Virginia. She was raised in West Virginia before moving to Moore, Oklahoma in 1966. Alice Married Ted Hillis on September 15, 1978. Alice enjoyed cooking and working in her church. She taught Sunday School, was Secretary-Treasurer of the Church and sang in the choir. Alice was a sales representative for Dillard Department Store in Oklahoma City. In 1985, she and Ted moved to California. While in California she managed an apartment complex. They moved to Bastrop in 1996 and became a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Bastrop.
Alice is also preceded in death by her late husband, Charles Shearer.
Her survivors include her husband, Ted Hillis of Cedar Creek, children, Thomas Shearer and wife Glenda, Nina Sue Shearer, Jim Shearer, half-brothers, Jim Bias, Mack Bias and Charles Bias, half-sister Ellen Bias, 6 grandchildren, Eddie Shearer, Geff Shearer, Katie Victorian, Sloan Shearer, Harper Shearer, and Macie Shearer, 3 great-grandchildren: Kaleb Shearer, Olivia Shearer and Mykayla Shearer and numerous nieces and nephews.
